HELLO SUMMER!

Get ready for sunshine☀️, hot days, and all the fun that comes with it! As temperatures rise, it’s a perfect time to think about ways to stay cool and save energy. 🌡️💡

With rising temperatures, now is a great time to think about staying cool AND saving energy. Small changes can make a big difference. Stay comfortable and energy smart this summer.  Here are a few tips:

Thermostat:
Raise your thermostat setting a few degrees when you're home and even higher when you're away. For example, Energy.gov suggests 78 degrees Fahrenheit when you're home and even higher when you're away.

Air Conditioning:
Reduce your air conditioning usage by using fans to circulate the air and opening windows at cooler times of the day. If you do use AC, make sure your filters are clean to improve efficiency.

Fans:
Use ceiling fans to circulate air and create a wind chill effect, making you feel cooler.

Windows and Doors:
Close curtains and blinds during the day to block out the sun and prevent heat gain. Seal any cracks or gaps around windows and doors to prevent cool air from escaping and hot air from entering.

 Appliances:
Use appliances like the oven and dishwasher during off-peak hours or when it's cooler outside (morning or evening).

 Lighting:
Consider switching to LED light bulbs, which produce less heat and are more energy efficient.

 Laundry:
If possible, air-dry clothes outside instead of using the dryer.
