POWER PLANT OPERATOR 1st STEP
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Operational control and monitoring of all power plant equipment. Maintain all logs and records associated with plant operation. Responsible for safe and efficient operation of one or more steam, turbo generator units, including but not limited to: boilers, turbines, generators, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, electrical boards, fans, scrubbers, ash handling equipment, fuel and lime handling equipment and etc.
WORK HOURS: Work rotating 12-hour shifts, requirements including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, hours may vary to meet plant requirements. Normal work hours may be changed subject to our union agreement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Good overall health.
- General intelligence, good oral and written communication skills with ability to receive and follow instructions.
- Ability to adjust to working a rotating shift schedule.
- Thoroughly familiar with all power plant equipment and all aspects of power plant operations.
- Able to control and operate all equipment safely and efficiently.
- Use knowledge to operate safely and efficiently in normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions.
- Must have a good working relationship with production personnel and system load dispatcher.
- Able to climb stairs, ladders, and structures where necessary.
- Must always work in a safe manner, abiding by all applicable safety standards.
- Able to pass all testing and training for Plant Operator 1st 6 months.
- Must be able to pass an entrance exam.
- Must be able to pass FBI background check
POSITION QUALIFICATION MINIMUMS:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent. College level coursework preferred.
MINIMUM LICENSE: Valid MO Driver’s License
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: None. Power plant experience or equivalent industrial experience preferred.
