CRITICAL CARE PROGRAM

BMU’s Critical Care program provides qualified customers additional time to pay their bills if they, or a dependent living in their home, require electric-powered medical equipment to sustain life. BMU will postpone a disconnection of utility services for residents who have filed with the utility the required Critical Care Medical Form completed by a physician attesting that a customer's household must have electric utility serviced in the home to maintain life or health.  This form, however, does not excuse the customer from paying their utility bills or shield them from disconnection for non-payment of a delinquent account.  With this Critical Care Form on file with the BMU, the utility will give a 15-day notice in writing of their intent to disconnect services for non-payment of a delinquent account allowing the customer time to make a payment arrangement to keep their utilities on or to relocate to an alternate location before the service interruption occurs.
